It has been a while since I posted, so I figure I better get something in.
There was a movie over the weekend called SuperVolcano which documents one possibility of the super volcano underYellowstone National Park. Now, I don't necessarily get caught up in all the doomsday predictions so much that I get paranoid, but like to see the possibilities in case of a disaster. We all know, or should know, that there are a lot of faces a disaster can take.
Our church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints tells its members that everyone should store food and water for emergencies. These emergencies can take the form of HUGE events or little events. Huge events include just as this show states, super volcanoes, but it also includes, earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, floods, or a variety of natural disasters. Smaller events can include even something as personal as a layoff or being out of work. Think of how wonderful a food storage would be if you couldn't afford to go buy groceries.
This show got me thinking of the devestation of Mother Nature. This volcano could blow soon or in the next 100,000 years. (Not that I'm sticking around that long to see it.) With the major earthquakes in the Sumatra region, (where another volcano is located by the way), and the tsunami of Dec. 26, you never know when things are going to go bad.
I'm not saying that we should live our lives as though something bad is going to happen tomorrow, but we shouldn't live our lives as though everything is A-OK either. We need to find a balance between having fun, living life, and the possibilities of the need for survival.
So, life continues, but we are now a little wiser and more aware. Don't we all feel better?
